Hailing from the streets of Queens, New York. Hipolito "Hip" Torres is a freelance photographer with a diverse background in photography and food styling. Hip has cultivated a unique skill set and an eye for capturing captivating images and telling stories.
Prior to getting into photography, Hip was adamant about his passion for food. In high school, he was fortunate enough to find C-CAP, where he trained, competed, and eventually won a full scholarship to Monroe Collage--where I achieved an associates degree in Culinary Arts and a Bachelors in Business Administration and Hospitality Management. All the while working in catering and even gaining the opportunity to study abroad in Northern Italy to hone his skills.
Since 2018, Hip has honed their craft in various genres including food, portraits and product photography. Creating for clients such as Bowery Farming Greens, TCHO Chocolate, and the New York Restoration Project, among others. Hip's work has also been featured in publications like Plate Magazine, StarChefs Magazine, and the NYTIMES Online. As well as assisting on shoots for Diageo's World Class Bartender Competition, Bacardi Rum, Glenfiddich, Jägermeister, and Thrillist.
Hip has built a reputation for himself having worked on Culinary Production Teams for shows such as Food Networks-Chopped, Out Chef'd, Netflix’s-Snack vs Chef, and the TODAY show. And as an Assistant Food Stylist, Hip has had the opportunity to style for Buzzfeed’s Tasty digital team. Helping create content for brands like Coca Cola, Taki’s, Ikea, and Magnolia Bakery to name a few.
As a queer Afro-Latinx creative, Hip takes pride in representing his community and goes above-and-beyond no matter the task at hand. Showcasing his art through his medium whether it's through food or photography.
